The Balmalp is located 2,106 metres above sea level in the middle of the truly impressive alpine-mountain region of Lech and Zürs. The mixture of modern and traditional architecture makes the Balmalp absolutely unique and offers a breathtaking panoramic view. The health and well-being of his guests is of the utmost importance to the owner Andreas Wibmer, and it is for this reason that he has made the Balmalp Austria’s very first non-smoking ski-lodge. This can also be seen in the healthy yet hearty dishes served. The interior architecture is truly unique; with lots of wood and clear structures, a modern atmosphere is created. The terrace also offers luxury, such as the heated outdoor bar for unclouded Après Ski fun and frolics. Mountain Force is fitting-out the entire Balmalp team.

René Schudel

René Schudel is one of the “new kids on the block” on the Swiss cooking scene. He became famous thanks to his “Funky Kitchen Club”, a new type of TV concept at the time, which combined cooking with a good dose of action, taste, lifestyle, fun and nature . The idea was a hit, five series were produced, and the programme ran for four years on ProSieben Schweiz. Today, Schudel runs his own restaurant “Benacus” in Unterseen, and is regularly in front of the camera for his new cooking show “Flavorites”. However, it was primarily his second passion, flying helicopters, which brought the genial star cook into contact with Mountain Force. It will be interesting to see what communal projects will arise from this exciting partnership!

Gianottis has a confectionary tradition spanning over 100 years to look back at. It all began in 1880 with Jules Calonder, the great-great-great grandfather of today’s proprietors Marco and Roman Kling. The great art of confectionary has been passed down over generations and is still practised today by the two brothers. The family tradition is seen as the foundation of the business and it is constantly being enhanced with new creations from Roman and Marco Kling. This can be seen at their store in Pontresina, where you will find items such as roasted wasabi peanuts with dark chocolate, white chocolate with saffron or chocolate high heels, which you will see in the shop window today. The range includes a variety of fine pralines, hand-crafted chocolate bars, Engadine nut tarts and “Birnbrot” – the famous Swiss bread made from pears and other festive ingredients. In December 2015, Gianottis completely refurbished their original store and reopened it as the new home of confectionary with a café and a wine bar with an integrated alpine grill restaurant. The staff at Gianottis are fitted out exclusively in Mountain Force clothing.
